    im in awe

    So.

The Sound of Silence is probably one of my favorite songs ever. When speaking of the “true” Simon and Garfunkel version (as opposed to the version where they added background music to in post to make it more “pop radio”), it’s a song that gives me chills.

Disturbed is not a band that I really enjoy. I remember in college, my (now) wife gave me a copy of a Disturbed CD, because she had two for some reason. I tried to listen to it, I really did. Didn’t do anything for me.

But this? Holy fuck, this is stunning. This is amazing.

    This gives me chills.

Holy shit, you have to listen to the whole sing.

    I have chills.

    Holy SHIT.

This is the band who did “Down With The Sickness”????

    UM?????

If you stop before three minutes you’re missing the truly mind-blowing bit

    Absolutely beautiful. I had chills.

    DUDE!

Ok, it got a reblog out of me there at the end.

    Fhdjf DUDE

The vocal range on this guy. THE VOCAL RANGE ON THIS FUCKING GUY.

I fuckin love Disturbed and always loved it when they did covers. This is amazingggg

i fucking love this video and i fucking love david draiman and his voice

  • Fading to Dust from Dis
    amillionmuses

    amillionmuses:

    sincerely-fili:

Send me ‘Fading to Dust’ for my muses reaction to watching yours die right in front of them.
(Music: You Are My Sunshine, music box version.)

Dis hadn’t seen the orc approach until it was too late. Fili was sitting quietly in the clearing of the forest, working away at a circlet of stems and leaves.

“I’m making this one for you, momma, then I’m gonna make one for uncle and Kee for when we go home.”

“That’s very nice of you, little lion.”

The sun was dipping low on the horizon, just enough where Dis knew they had to start heading back home to miss the dark. But Fili was happy to finally get alone time with his mother, and the smile he gave her shone brighter than the sun’s reflection on his golden hair. They had been through a lot together after the death of his father and the birth of Kili, the new light of both of their worlds.

Dis was just about to call out for Fili, when a sharp jab of pain entered her ribs. She held the wound tightly as she stumbled forwards. “Fili,” She huffed out, turning to look for the attacker. “Fili, go hide.”

Another arrow flew past her. Dis took up her sword, trying to shield Fili from any hits. An orc appeared from the trees, firing off another arrow that managed to reach Dis’s abdomen. The pain became so overwhelming, her body seemed to block out all feeling, leaving her temporarily numb. She ran forwards in a rush of adrenaline, her sword swinging heavily at the orc, who blocked the blows with his bow. He threw hits back, - faster than Dis could handle in her condition, aiming for the arrows he had managed to hit her with, leaving her writhing on the ground.

The orc stepped closer to Fili, who had been standing in a state of shock. He was unable to process the situation - and, if he did, his body wasn’t cooperating. He was trapped. As the creature was swinging his bow down at the small dwarfling, Dis managed to cut her sword deep into his spine; and with a horrid screech, the monster collapsed.

Dis dropped her weapon and her attention focused back on her wounds. It would be unwise to pull the arrows out without the presence of a healer, but every time she moved or breathed, it was like she was being scrapped and stabbed from the inside. One of the wounds had already began bleeding heavily because of the orc’s hit.

“Momma?” Fili finally cried, gently tugging at her arm. His eyes were wide and scared, looking up into her pale face. He could feel bile rising in his throat. She had to be alright… “Momma, let’s go home. Kee is waiting for us.”

Dis didn’t reply. Instead, she took Fili’s little hand and began walking forwards, wanting desperately to make sure he got home, if it were the last thing she did.

The sun was almost gone now. The forest was darkening, and the path seemed all the more winding and confusing, especially with the blood loss Dis suffered. But she had to get home, had to get Fili home. Kili was waiting for them, her little baby; and Thorin was waiting for them. Where was she, again?

“Momma,” Fili called again, moving closer to Dis’s cooling body, the unfinished circlet of leaves and stems still clutched tightly in his other hand. The temperatures had dropped. He was shivering slightly, eyes squinting in the dark. “We’ve been walking a long time. Are we almost home?”

Home. She had to get Fili home. Dis continued dragging along, the path they took long gone. Finally she fell to the ground, her head heavy and body hurting.

“I can’t walk any more,” She slurred, voice raspy and dry. “I can’t go anymore. Hurry back, Fili, I’ll catch up.”

“But I-I don’t know how to ge-get home…” Fili stuttered. Large tears raced down his cheeks, but he felt like his mind was going numb again, like it didn’t want to fully accept what was happening. “Momma?”

Dis didn’t respond. She lay still in the grass, glazed eyes staring up at Fili.

“Uncle,” Fili called out into the darkness, hoping they might be close enough that someone would hear. “Someone, help!”

But there was no response. Fili shivered harder, his hands tightening around the circlet. The cold was cutting through him and the trees suddenly didn’t feel as welcoming as they did. There was no path to take him back to his family, no light to see, no warm face to tell him everything would be alright. The little prince laid down next to his mother, holding the crown of leaves to his chest as he curled up into a ball. Surely they’ll be found…

Shit. Rosa with weapons was bad enough, Rosa without weapons OR her supervision would be terrifying.

    “… Fine”

“Good.” Yes. It was good always managing to get what she wants.

“You do realise you’re the reason I have grey hairs, right?”

Stubborn, definitely a royal. With any luck Rosa’d pick up a sword and give in at the first ouchy. That being said, she had a distinct feeling that wasn’t the case

  • ==> Four vs. Six

    adorably-deplorable:

    “What the–?!”

Did he just spit a cloud at her? Riiva was ready to destroy him was she not busy analysing how her strikes fell. The desires effect, he was definitely hurt. The rush, the thrill of victory that started pumping in her veins felt good, until a tingling began in the cut upon her lip, along her cheek, and then. Oh god. Fuck, her eyes burned!

The scream was evidently not human, double pitched and painful as she took two steps back and crouched, a whole four hands going to her eyes, rubbing frantically. It felt like spiders with bladed legs were crawling along the open cuts, and the woman could only marginalia keep track of her surroundings enough to hear him move and then grunt in pain. Good. He hurt. She could abuse that. Forcing herself up to standing her middle hands grasped each other, and her veins began to glow a vivid blue.

“Dhanvantari, bring your blessing” she murmured, feeling the magic strain past the agony to clear her eyes. They were damaged, definitely so, but she could make out shaped, and some details. Not much more than a decent blur though. And only enough that she could crouch and suddenly leap at him, arms braced ready to strike as soon ads they made contact.

Vynirakk smiled before running his tongue over his many, many fangs. She was surprised. That pleased him to no end, it almost made up for the throbbing pain in his thorax. Truth be told he got most with that trick no one expected to be spat in in a fight. The problem was that it was a one use trick. Very few fell for it twice.

His smug satisfaction was quickly cut down however when she began to scream. Not because she was screaming, that was great. He was now less than pleased - and perhaps even worried - because he’d only ever heard a scream like that once… And what followed was less then fucking pleasant.

His eyes picked up the glowing in her veins but his mind couldn’t process what it was. Bio-luminescence? He wondered. That was an odd trait - for what he presumed to be a mammalian - to have. He wouldn’t know how stupid that thought was. Not yet anyway. She appeared to be able to see him, that was not great. How well she could see was up for debate but he wasn’t going to be the one debating it.

She was quick to launch herself clearing the impressive distance between them with apparent, and worrying ease. He knew how strong she was and he knew how comparatively weak he was. He could dodge he guessed but she was quick enough to attack again.

Maybe… He wondered. He had an idea but it would mean taking another hit. He sighed a little. Vynirakk crouched into the sand bracing himself with the upper pair of insectile limbs and his bipedal legs. One pair of arms formed a cross block in front of his face and that was all he could think of doing to defend himself. Now he might not have been strong, the silk he could produce on the other hand was. He could blend several types in his body at great speed, thank goodness for small mercies. His lower insectile legs swung round either side and with the help of his free hands he began to spin and throw thick, sticky strands up into the air right into her flight path. The stuff was designed so that upon contact with anything but chitin it’d stick and solidify rapidly binding anything touched.

She’d collide with him that was almost a given, he couldn’t see her changing direction mid jump… Though he’d not thought of that contingent. He just hoped that this stuff was strong enough to delay her if not bind some of her limbs completely.

    Here came the impact…

The crowd was losing their collective shit, roaring and goading and encouraging. They’d never seen a creature like their champions opponent, and the two and for between the pair was riling the crowd wonderfully. They expected a slaughter, and here this stranger was giving as good as he got.

Her eyes burned, the blurs were only just enough to guide by, but there was no way for her to even see his trap thrown in her path. No way to be warned until she felt the soft silks make contact with her skin. In instinct she went to tear at them, to brush them away, but not only was this a doomed effort as the substance hardened, not only did it serve to further entangle her, but without focusing on him she merely collided without any attack prepared.

It was strong, confusing and angering her as she struggled in the dirt, blind and furious. Riiva’s eyes were doing all they could to heal faster, clear her vision so she could see but it’d be another few minutes before that. Minutes she wasn’t sure if she had.

  • I’ve been thinking and okay, Hannibal could have totally seduced Will by saving an orphan puppy from a burning building all shirtless and heroic like. But no, he had to be extra, he had to frame Will for murder and eat people. You tried too hard Hannibal, should have just got the dude a dog.

I’m p sure Hannibal is more of a cat guy? Idk
